Spider Veins / Asclera

Spider veins (telangiectasias) are small, thin blood vessels visible beneath the skin. Spider Veins are small blood vessels visible beneath the skin. They develop on the face or legs and may look like a series of thin tree branches.. Many patients get reduced self-confidence when spider veins develop on prominent areas such as the legs or face and seek treatment to destroy them. Many spider-vein treatments are minimally invasive, offering aesthetically pleasing results without lengthy downtime.

The advantages of this treatment include:

  • No general anesthesia

  • Decreased aches

  • Short recovery period

  • Minimal scarring

  • Low-risk treatment

  • Larger veins, called varicose veins that are thicker and cause discomfort must be evaluated by a vascular surgeon.

The Treatment

Spider Veins are treated in various ways, all of which are minimally invasive. Laser treatment consists of targeting the vessel using a focused beam of light to heat and destroy affected veins. When laser energy is applied to the treatment area, it targets the pigment in the blood and warms the vessel without damaging the skin or surrounding tissues. Over time – usually, in four to six weeks after treatment – the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears. Blood gets rerouted to healthier veins. This treatment has fewer side effects, causes minimal discomfort, and has no down time. You will need 2-4 sessions in order to complete the treatment.

Are there side effects?

Yes. You might get redness, swelling, and altered pigmentation. These symptoms will subside a few days after the procedure.
